Whatever Leather started the way most good things do — out of stubbornness. Alan McGee didn't set out to start a leather shop. He set out to make a wallet that wouldn't disintegrate in six months.

Now, working out of a small shop in Milton, Florida, he hand-cuts, hand-stitches, and hand-finishes every piece that leaves the bench. No CNC machines. No assembly lines. Just sharp tools, quality leather, and the kind of patience most people gave up on.

How long does a custom order take?

Most pieces take 2–4 weeks depending on complexity. Wallets and small goods are on the faster end; bags and larger projects take longer. I'll give you an honest timeline upfront — no surprises.

What kind of leather do you use?

Full grain vegetable-tanned leather, primarily from Hermann Oak and Wickett & Craig tanneries. This is the highest quality leather available — it develops a rich patina over time instead of peeling or cracking.

Can I choose my leather color and finish?

Absolutely. I keep a selection of natural, medium brown, dark brown, and black hides in stock. For special projects, I can source specific colors or finishes. Just ask.

Do you do repairs on existing leather goods?

Depends on the piece. If it's quality leather that's worth saving, I'm happy to take a look. If it's bonded leather or genuine leather (the marketing term for low-grade stuff), it's probably not worth the repair cost. Bring it by and I'll be straight with you.

What's your return policy?

Custom work is made specifically for you, so I don't do returns. But I do guarantee my craftsmanship — if a stitch pops or hardware fails under normal use, I'll fix it. Period.
