Pausely (“Pausely,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), operated by Karia LLC, provides a digital-wellbeing app that helps you build healthier phone habits by turning reduced screen time into a growing virtual tree. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, how it is used, and the choices you have.

The short version
- Pausely reads your Screen Time / device-activity data (with your permission, through Apple’s Screen Time system) only on your device to calculate your tree’s health, points, and insights. This raw usage data is not sent to our servers, not used for advertising, and never sold or shared with data brokers.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites, we do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA), and Pausely contains no ads.
- The limited data that does leave your device is your subscription status, a small amount of anonymous usage analytics, and — if you choose to plant a real tree — the record of that action.
- Pausely does not require you to create an account or sign in.
Information we handle
1. Screen Time & device-activity data (processed on your device)
With your explicit authorization via Apple’s Family Controls / Device Activity system, Pausely accesses information about your device usage — such as screen time, app pickups, and usage thresholds — to power the app’s core features (your tree’s health, growth points, streaks, and usage insights).
This data is processed and stored locally on your device (in an app-private, app-group container). It is not transmitted to Pausely’s servers. Consistent with Apple’s requirements, we use this data solely to provide you with device-management and digital-wellbeing features, and we do not use it for advertising or advertising measurement, and do not share it with data brokers.
2. Purchase and subscription data
When you purchase a subscription, the transaction is processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to manage and validate subscriptions. RevenueCat receives your purchase history and an anonymous app-user identifier so we can determine whether your subscription is active. We do not receive your full payment details (card numbers, etc.) — those are handled by Apple.
3. Analytics data
We use Respectlytics, a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand how the app is used in aggregate (for example, which screens are viewed) so we can improve Pausely. These analytics are not tied to your real-world identity and are not used for cross-app or cross-site tracking.
4. App content you create (tree plantings & certificates)
If you use features such as planting a real tree or earning a certificate, a record of that action (and related progress data such as growth points) may be stored in our backend database, provided by Supabase, so the feature can function. Because Pausely does not require an account, these records are associated with your app installation rather than with your name.
5. Photo library
If you choose to save a tree certificate, Pausely adds the image to your device’s photo library. This happens only when you initiate it, and Pausely does not read, browse, or upload your existing photos.
How we use information
- To provide the app’s core features (tree health, points, streaks, insights).
- To determine and restore your subscription entitlement.
- To operate features you use, such as saving certificates or recording tree plantings.
- To understand aggregate usage and improve the app.
- To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your information for third-party advertising.
Third-party services
Pausely relies on the following service providers, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Apple (App Store purchases, Screen Time / Device Activity) — apple.com/legal/privacy

- Supabase (backend storage for tree/progress records) — supabase.com/privacy

Data retention and deletion
- On-device data (Screen Time data, app progress, settings): stored only on your device. You can delete all of it at any time by deleting the Pausely app from your device.
- Server-stored records (e.g., tree plantings, growth-point records held in Supabase): retained for as long as needed to provide the feature. To request deletion of records associated with your installation, contact us at hello@karia.cc and we will delete them.
- Subscription/analytics data held by our providers is retained per their respective policies.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or California CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@karia.cc. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. We do not sell or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
Children’s privacy
Pausely is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including transport encryption (HTTPS) for data sent to our service providers and Apple’s on-device protections for locally stored data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard your information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Continued use of Pausely after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
